A case-by-case recovery process
Data recovery is not a single fixed procedure. The correct approach depends on the storage device or system, the type of failure, the condition of the source media and any actions that have already been taken.
The process
- Contact DataRecovery.lk. Tell us what storage is affected and what happened.
- Describe the symptoms. Include whether the device is detected, whether files are accessible and whether there are unusual sounds or errors.
- Submit the device or case for assessment. Device drop-off is arranged by appointment where required.
- Assessment and quotation. We evaluate the case and provide an assessment and quotation.
- Approval. Recovery work proceeds only if appropriate and agreed.
- Recovery work. The agreed work is carried out according to the specific case.
Assessment timing
Our normal target for assessment and quotation is around three days. This is a target rather than a guaranteed turnaround, because some cases require additional checks before the recovery options can be determined.
Recovery outcomes
Recovery options depend on the condition of the storage and the events that occurred before assessment. No recovery result is guaranteed.
Important preservation step
Where possible, avoid unnecessary writes, formatting or repeated attempts to operate a failing storage device before assessment. Preserving the original source can help keep recovery options open.
